<em>Tanti auguri</em> für Christoph Luitpold Frommel

Christoph Luitpold Frommel feiert am 25. September 2023 seinen 90. Geburtstag. Seine Forschungen zur Renaissancearchitektur haben das wissenschaftliche Feld sowohl methodisch als auch in der Wahl der Gegenstände revolutioniert. Der gebürtige Heidelberger hatte bereits nach seiner Münchner Promotion bei Hans Sedlmayr als Stipendiat und Assistent prägende Jahre an der Bibliotheca Hertziana – Max-Planck-Institut für Kunstgeschichte verbracht, die in erster Linie seinem Opus Magnum, dem Römischen Palastbau der Hochrenaissance gewidmet waren, womit er sich in Bonn habilitierte.

2022 was marked by the devastating invasion of Ukraine by Russian troops. Millions of Ukrainians had to flee their country, among them many art scholars and artists. We immediately joined the #ScienceForUkraine initiative and welcomed five Ukrainian and two Russian art scholars threatened by the war. mehr
