DESCRIPTION:Änderungsmitteilung: Public event without registration\nIn Jan

ts premises — from the photogrammetric capture of Federico Zuccari's fre
scoes to a full LiDAR scanning of the complex intertwining of volumes and
floors. To mark the beginning of the project and frame it within larger pe
rspectives\, this event will address the use of 3D modelling techniques fo
r research in architectural history\, and look beyond claims of objectivit
y to focus on their interpretative value. The two keynotes will showcase t
he use of digital practices for the study of Italian Renaissance architect
ure and the reconstruction of hypothetical past spaces. A following roundt
able\, with experts from the Hertziana and abroad\, will tackle pressing e
pistemic questions such as: Can the normativity of computational methods b
e compatible with limited and uncertain sources? How should one navigate t
he interpretative potential of visual models as well as their seductive ri

DESCRIPTION:At the turn of the 1570s\, vast portions of the Albaicín and A
lcazaba neighborhoods in Granada underwent a double process of ruination.
Houses there first suffered the devastation of two years of armed conflict
\, during the Alpujarras war\, which had started as a Morisco revolt in th
ese very neighborhoods in the winter of 1568. Then\, after Philip II force
d the exile of most of city’s population of Muslim descent as punishment
for the rebellion\, through deportations that began in the winter of 1569
\, most of these houses were abandoned. As walls and roofs began to crumbl
e\, the Spanish crown instituted a policy that extended its punitive agend
a to the urban fabric: it was established that all residential buildings t
hat had belonged to resettled Moriscos would be left to deteriorate.\nVort

DESCRIPTION:From the nineteenth century onwards\, progressive historians em
phasized labour as central to social history\, and to artistic practice it
self: the artist as worker. But what becomes of this view when labour—ar
tistic as well as non-artistic—is fundamentally reframed by artificial i
ntelligence? This question connects directly to the work of Hans Hess\, th
e German Jewish émigré art historian who introduced museology to the UK
and played a decisive role in the postwar reception of German Expressionis
 m. Hess placed labour at the centre of art history\, and his many unpublis
hed writings are now coming to light through an ongoing archival project.\

DESCRIPTION:Änderungsmitteilung: Public event without registration\nThe re
lationship between avant-garde artists and consumer culture has often been
framed as antagonistic. Nonetheless\, in the period between the First and
Second World Wars\, commercial display became a significant means through
which modern design was introduced to the general public. Recent studies
have demonstrated how commercial display practices have “contributed to
the formulation of new forms of aesthetic experience\, as well as art and
design typologies” (Lasc et al. 2017: 5). Taking as a case study the Rom
anian avant-garde movement\, this talk examines how the visual realm of re
tail practices intersected with new trends in art and design\, in particul
ar the introduction of modern design for the domestic interior in Buchares
