Fernanda Marinho defendend her PhD thesis in Art History at the University of Campinas, Brazil, in 2013 with one year (2012) of research at the Scuola Normale di Pisa. In her thesis, Marinho studied Eugenio Battisti’s L'Antirinascimento and the Italian critic of art of the 20th century about Mannerism. For her bachelor degree at the University of Rio de Janeiro (2006) and her master degree at the University of Campinas (2008), Marinho studied Renaissance paintings in public and private Brazilian collections of artists such as Mabuse, Michele Tosini, Botticelli and Giampietrino. From 2014 to 2018, during her Post-Doctorate at the Federal University of São Paulo and at the Musée du Louvre, Marinho dedicated her studies to the comparison between the concepts of primitive, sauvage and cannibal in Italian artistic historiography, French Surrealism, and Brazilian Anthropophagy, respectively. In 2018, she acted as assistant curator in the exhibition Raphael and the Definition of Beauty held in São Paulo (FIESP). At the Bibliotheca Hertziana in Rome Marinho is conducting her research on the relationship between Brazilian modernism and the Italian cultural program linked to Mussolini in the exhibition celebrating the 50th anniversary of official immigration in Brazil in 1937.
