Elisabeth Niederdöckl
completed a double PhD at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales in
Paris and KU Leuven in 2026. Her doctoral research was supported by a four-year
FWO Fundamental Research Fellowship, as well as funded research stays and activities
at the Academia Belgica Roma and the École française de Rome, the Maison de
l’Épigraphie in Poitiers, and Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore.
Previously, she studied in
Venice, Vienna, and Salzburg, completing her MA in History of Arts and
Conservation of Artistic Heritage at Ca’ Foscari University of Venice with a
thesis on the Verdun ambo. Since October 2026, she has been Wissenschaftliche Assistentin
in Tanja Michalsky’s department Stadt und Raum in der Vormoderne. Earlier
predoctoral research experience includes the Kunsthistorisches Institut in
Florenz, La Biennale di Venezia, the Österreichische Galerie Belvedere, and
Galerie bei der Albertina in Vienna.
