Welcome – Our Guide with some Practical Information and Tips

To help new colleagues and guest fellows at the Bibliotheca Hertziana – Max Planck Institute for Art History get an easier start in Rome, our representatives and fellows have compiled a guide. It reflects their experience and is intended as a helpful orientation tool.

The guide provides practical advice for preparing your stay in Italy, completing necessary formalities on arrival, and navigating life at the Institute.

You will find information on visas, accommodation, health insurance, and registration procedures, as well as guidance on accessing the library and photographic collections, using the intranet MAX, and getting involved in the scholarly and social life of the Hertziana.
