Curriculum Vitae

Pietro Maria Liuzzo is Senior Information Scientist and referent for the digital assets of the Fotothek. After a PhD on Ancient Greek Historiography and the digital edition of FGrHist 104, the focus of his interest moved to making data, programs and workflows serve questions and methods of inquiry of researchers in the humanities. Liuzzo built his experience in XML technologies and the Semantic Web firstly as Networking Coordinator for the Europeana Network of Ancient Greek and Latin Epigraphy at the University of Heidelberg, where he dealt with the harmonization of epigraphic datasets using EpiDoc an CIDOC. Following that, Liuzzo worked as Tech Lead of the family of resources related to the Beta maṣāḥǝft project, an open and collaborative research environment for the cataloguing and encoding of the manuscript tradition of Ethiopia and Eritrea, based at the Hiob Ludolf Center for Ethiopian and Eritrean Studies of the University of Hamburg. Liuzzo worked on modeling representations of ancient documents and artefacts including their encoding, visualization, and reusability, implementing standard-based methods for easy and fruitful collaboration in the elaboration of scholarly resources.
