What happens when language is not the means of communication but the topic of discussion? How can language be visualized so that we can talk about it? The Latin alphabet can be used of course as well as Greek, Hebrew, Arabic and Oriental characters. [more]

[more]

In a time in which politics are under the siege of strong Schmittean dichotomies, the boundaries between "us" and "them" – the "national community" and the "enemy" –, are once more emphasized through the radicalisation of political "lexical arsenals". The Italian and German cases are particularly clear examples of the triumph of this "populist Zeitgeist". [more]

In this talk, I explore essential differences between medieval and modern ideas about acts of creation, obscuring our retrospective view upon the medieval artist, his or her work, and his or her self-understanding. Exhibition and Vernissage: İSTANBUL SURLARI – The Land Walls of Istanbul

For centuries they protected the capital of the Byzantine, and then the Ottoman Empire, from external attacks. Although they are the most impressive surviving work of late Roman military architecture, the tourist crowds in modern Istanbul rarely visit this extraordinary monument. [more]

Roma X secolo

Conferenza
[more]
