Image Making as Knowledge Production: Earth, Heavens, and Body
In this exhibition, we show that images were part of a process. A process of observation, of experimentation, and/or of discovery, of which we exhibit here the printed version. Making images, especially drawing (disegnare), was at the basis of many early modern sciences, as this room also shows (Sala del Disegno by Federico Zuccari.

We want to highlight that the moment of image making is part of the practice of knowledge production. It is thus not a mere representation of something that happened before, but rather a moment of unfolding nature through drawing.

The exhibition has a case on the teaching of drawing, and three cases in which examples are shown of images that capture process, organized around the heavens, earth, and the body.
