Curriculum Vitae

After a period of study at the Università degli Studi Roma Tre, Albert Maximilian Fischer completed his Master’s degree in Art History at Ruhr-Universität Bochum with a thesis on social housing in postwar Italy, focusing on the examples of Corviale (Rome) and Rozzol Melara (Trieste). He subsequently held a position as research associate at the Department of Art History. He first worked as assistant to Prof. Cornelia Jöchner, who supervised his dissertation; since her passing in January 2025, supervision has been continued by Jun.-Prof. Christine Beese. He has taught seminars on Dutch art of the so-called “Golden Age” in the context of the Republic’s independence as well as on residential architecture from Palladio to the modern townhouse.

He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Art History and History at Technische Universität Dresden and Ruhr-Universität Bochum. His research interests include architectural history, with particular attention to the social logic and experience of space, transnational and transcultural perspectives, the critical question of a European art history, and the political spaces of city and territory.
