Cinquegrani was
awarded the Viaggio
a Palermo
postdoctoral research fellowship (established in collaboration with the
Fondazione Palazzo Butera in Palermo), for a project about the
representation Risorgimento-Era Palermo in Roberto Rossellini and Luchino
Visconti’s cinema. He is a film scholar whose research focuses on
Italian cinema from the 1940s to the 1970s, with particular emphasis on the
integration of film-history, stylistic and aesthetic analysis, and cultural studies. From 2023 to 2026, he carried out a
research project on the representation of the Roman landscape in Italian cinema
at the Università Roma Tre.
Previously, at the Università di Cagliari, he
participated in a project investigating the relationship between cinema and
consumer culture in Italy during the years of the economic boom. His research
interests include cinema and landscape, media iconographies of death,
and the relationship between film production and anthropological perspectives.
