Anarcheology Museum

Christoph Keller

Anarcheology raises questions of memory and its activation. Why do we need art as a cultural legacy of the past? Is archivism as recollection of Western culture a cult of the dead? Hence are we living in a necropolis? Which possibilities are at our disposal to navigate in it? How can the archives as well as the methods of storing and retrieving knowledge be adapted to present needs?

The current artistic investigation "Anarchaeology Museum" engages with the Fototeca, beginning with its areas of Rome/Antichità and Rome/Urbanistica. The point of departure are the Fototeca's already digitalized photographic holdings, which are contextualized both regionally and thematically.
Christoph Keller has been invited as an artist to work at the Bibliotheca Hertziana.
