From Concepts to Tools
Practical implementation and theoretical analysis of visual similarity in the context of (digital) art history, with a short hands-on introduction to the ImageGraph tool and invites participants to discuss how digital methods can assist art historical research methodologies.

Focused on both the practical implementation and the theoretical analysis of visual similarity in the context of (digital) art history, this session includes a short hands-on introduction to the ImageGraph tool and invites participants to assess and discuss how (and if) digital tools and methods can assist or advance art historical research methodologies.

Eva Cetinić is postdoctoral fellow at the Center for Digital Visual Studies since September 2021. She obtained her Ph.D. in Computer science from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing, University of Zagreb in 2019 with the thesis titled “Computational detection of stylistic properties of paintings based on high-level image feature analysis”. Besides being generally interested in the field of digital humanities, her specific interests focus on studying new research methodologies rooted in the intersection of artificial intelligence and art history.
