Starting from a reflection on the ICONOS project, the conference asks how art historical traditions of metamorphosis might engage with new digital and AI-driven approaches. Among the questions addressed are how digital catalogues of myth and their reception could be reimagined, how intermediality informs the study of images, and how generative and multimodal AI challenge existing iconological methods. Bringing together an international group of art historians, literary scholars, and computer scientists, the meeting seeks to foster transdisciplinary dialogue on the future of image studies in the digital age.
