Curriculum vitae
Erik Wegerhoff is an architectural historian and a critic, and currently senior fellow at the Bibliotheca Hertziana. Previous Roman experiences include a Grand Tour by Vespa in 2005, and a PhD fellowship at the Hertziana in 2006—2009, funded by both the Hertziana and the Gerda Henkel Stiftung. Erik received his doctorate from ETH Zurich in 2011 with a thesis on reinterpretations and conversions of the Colosseum after antiquity. His habilitation (second book) in 2021 examined ar-chitectural debates on the automobile over the course of the twentieth century. He has been teaching the history and theory of architecture at TU Berlin, TU Munich, and ETH Zurich in various pre-doc to advanced post-doc positions, collaborating with Peter Herrle, Dietrich Erben, and Maarten Delbeke, and has been a Senior Lecturer (Privatdozent) at the Institute for the History and Theory of Architecture (gta) at ETH Zurich since 2021. 2021—2023, he also worked as a journalist for the Swiss architectural periodical „Schweizerische Bauzeitung – TEC21“. In summer 2023, he was visiting professor at the Institute for Art Histiory at TU Dresden. Since 2020, he is engaged in restoring and remodelling a 300 year-old farmhouse in central Italy following criteria of sustaina-bility, together with architect Laura Wollenhaupt.
