As to explore the potential of the Manifesto in its close reading we organize a Research Seminar opened by four lightning talks: Lena Bader (Paris) on the Manifesto’s notion of an "eternal return with a difference" (Silviano Santiago) and its possible connections to Édouard Glissant's archipelagic thinking; Eduardo Jorge de Oliveira (Zurich) on Hélio Oiticica’s Manifesto English translation (1972) and the book Antropofagias: um livro manifesto! (2021); Ana Gonçalves Magalhães (São Paulo) on German and Italian translations and receptions, including Andrade’s Manifesto da Poesia Pau Brasil (1924); Thiago Gil de Oliveira Virava (São Paulo) on Andrade's writings on art before and after the Manifesto in an antropophagical perspective.

Eduardo Jorge de Oliveira is Assistant Professor of Brazilian Studies (Literature, Culture, Media) at the University of Zurich. Author of the books: A invenção de uma pele. Nuno Ramos em obras (Iluminuras, 2018), and Signo, sigilo. Mira Schendel e a escrita da vivência imediata (Lumme 2019)/ Beschweigen, Bezeichnen. Mira Schendel und die Schrift unmittelbaren Erlebens (Diaphanes, 2020). He directed the film-essays La joie qui vient/Alegriaque vem (with Jean-Luc Nancy and Maria Filomena Molder, 2018) and Une joie animale (with Muriel Pic and Jean-Christophe Bailly, 2020).
Ana Gonçalves Magalhães is associate professor of History of Art and director at the Museum of Contemporary Art of the University of São Paulo, in Brazil. She graduated in History at the University of Campinas (UNICAMP) and earned her PhD from the University of São Paulo (USP). She was editorial coordinator and curatorial assistant at the São Paulo Biennial Foundation (2001-2008), and since her tenure at MAC USP, has been invited as guest scholar and visiting professor by universities and research institutes in the United States and in Europe. In 2019, she was curatorial fellow at the Bibliotheca Hertziana – Max Planck Institute for Art History in Rome. Her research on MAC USP international collection of modern art is focused mainly on its Italian modern artworks and their meaning for Brazilian artistic milieu in the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s.
Lena Bader has been research director at the German Center for Art History (Deutsches Forum für Kunstgeschichte, or DFK Paris) since 2012. She studied art history and cultural studies at the Humboldt University in Berlin and received her Ph.D. in 2011 with a thesis on Image Processes in the 19th Century. The Holbein Controversy and the sources of Art History. Her current project focuses on image migrations between Brazil and France. Together with Thomas Kirchner, she has launched the initiative Travelling Art Histories. Transregional Networks in the Exchange between Latin America and Europe at the DFK Paris.
Thiago Gil de Oliveira Virava is Research and Outreach coordinator at the Fundação Bienal de São Paulo, in Brazil. He graduated in Fine Arts at the University of São Paulo (USP) and earned his PhD with the dissertation Um boxeur na arena: Oswald de Andrade e as artes visuais no Brasil, 1915-1954 at USP in 2018. He is the author of the book Uma brecha para o surrealismo: percepções do movimento surrealista no Brasil, 1920-1940 (2015).
