Performance Night: Chi esce entra. A Tribute Exhibition for a Disappearing Building

Expanding the dialogue between contemporary art and the architecture of Via Gregoriana 9, three performing artists and a DJ are invited to inhabit the space through movement and sound exploring notions of identity, cultural memory, and speculative futures.

Lara Dâmaso is a Milan/Zurich-based artist. Her work spans ephemeral and permanent forms, taking shape through the mediums of performance, sound, video, sewing, sculpture, photography and text. Dâmaso’s practice focuses on the sensitive and vibratory dialogue between humans and the space they inhabit. For Chi esce entra, she presents Polychisis (to emanate), a performance exploring the relationship between the movement of the voice and that of the body and establishing a direct and emotional form of communication with the building of Via Gregoriana 9.

Sorour Darabi is a transdisciplinary artist and choreographer, born in Shiraz (Iran) and based in Paris since 2013. His work is rooted in an exploration of Persian literature and queer histories in Iran, intertwining these cultural heritages with contemporary socio-political concerns. Developed in collaboration with music artist Pablo Altar and visual artist Sacha Gabilan, the performance MAJNÛN — the first stage of a larger dance-opera exploring madness — transforms Via Gregoriana 9 into a stage for a dramaturgy of traces, scars, and disappearance.

ISAM is a performer and dancer from Quito (Ecuador) and based in Lausanne. His personal practice blends physical work, poetry, singing, and DJing, all with a decolonial and queer perspective. In his solo performance metiCULOsidad he proposes a deconstruction of stereotypes and an exploration of transmasc sensuality about Latinx street culture, speculating a post-apocalyptic world in which only plants, punks and reggaeton are left.

ZOESS is a Sicilian DJ and producer based in Rome. Since 2021, she started by organizing small underground events in secret locations, and soon after began performing at various festivals and clubs. Within the building of Via Gregoriana 9, her hypnotic and dynamic music engages in a dialogue with the performances and with the dance floor of the former club, reactivating its echoes.
